Experts attribute the surge to several factors adverse weather reducing crop yields, supply-chain disruptions from transport and fuel costs, and middle-man pricing mark-ups that amplify spikes in wholesale prices before they even reach consumers. The effect is hitting families hard as rising food costs add pressure amid broader economic uncertainty.
