Sanrio’s beloved global icon Hello Kitty is finally heading to the big screen. The movie being developed by New Line Cinema in partnership with FlynnPictureCo. and Sanrio will be a hybrid of live-action and animation and is set for release in 2028. Directors Jennifer Coyle and Leo Matsuda are attached, with the goal of bringing Hello Kitty’s themes of friendship, joy, and inclusivity to global audiences for the first time in a major studio feature.
