Disney+ has officially greenlit Afterlife With Archie, a live-action horror series reimagining the town of Riverdale as a “nightmare-fueled hellscape overrun with flesh-eating zombies.” The show is based on the comic by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa & Francesco Francavilla, with Aguirre-Sacasa writing and executive producing. Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, Jon Goldwater, and Jimmy Gibbons are also attached as executive producers through their respective production companies. The project has received a script-to-series commitment, meaning the scripts are in development and if satisfied, the series will go forward. At this point, it’s not yet clear if any cast members from Riverdale will reprise their roles in this new, darker take.
