CARLY SIMON DEFENDS SABRINA CARPENTER’S BOLD ALBUM COVER: “IT’S NOT OUTRAGEOUS”

Carly Simon is backing Sabrina Carpenter amid backlash over the pop star’s latest album cover for Man’s Best Friend. The image shows Carpenter on her hands and knees while a man appears to pull her hair — a visual that sparked controversy across social media.

In a recent interview, Simon dismissed the outrage, saying, “She’s not doing anything outrageous. It seems tame.” The music legend compared the photo to past album covers, calling it far less provocative than others, like The Rolling Stones’ Sticky Fingers.

Simon, who once faced similar criticism for her own 1975 Playing Possum cover, noted that bold imagery in music isn’t new — and shouldn’t be shocking today.

Carpenter, known for pushing boundaries in her performances and visuals, has continued to stir conversation, but Simon’s support adds a veteran’s perspective to the ongoing debate about artistic freedom and evolving pop stardom.
