Zara Larsson is more determined than ever to reach the top. The 27-year-old pop star revealed on the Rolling Stone Music Now podcast that her ambition is both “a blessing and a curse.” Despite career highs, she admits it's hard to feel satisfied. “Nothing’s ever gonna be good enough for your soul,” she shared. “I just want to be, like, the number one—even just for a moment.”

The Swedish singer regrets the four-year gap between So Good (2017) and Poster Girl (2021), saying she scrapped multiple albums in search of perfection. “I must have had five albums in those four years,” she said.

Now, with Midnight Sun, Larsson feels more grounded. She’s written several versions of the title track, inspired by Swedish summers and a longing for home. While creating, she avoids music trends entirely: “I don’t really care about what other people are doing.”
