Pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter has unveiled the provocative artwork for her upcoming album Man’s Best Friend, out August 29 — nearly a year after her Grammy-winning Short n’ Sweet. The racy cover, featuring Sabrina on all fours with a man pulling her hair, has sparked fierce debate online.
While some criticized the image, others defended the 26-year-old singer, saying the cover satirizes how she’s perceived. “She’s obviously portraying a dog, referencing the phrase ‘man’s best friend’ and how people say she’s for the ‘male gaze,’” one fan posted on X.
The album’s lead single Manchild — co-written with Jack Antonoff and Amy Allen — dropped recently, with Sabrina thanking “men for testing me.” She described the track as “a loving eye roll” and the soundtrack to confusing young adulthood.
Speculation continues over who inspired the song, with actor Barry Keoghan’s name circulating among fans.
