Ryan Reynolds’ next film, Animal Friends, has been pushed back seven months, with Warner Bros. now scheduling the animated/live-action comedy for May 1, 2026, instead of its original October 10, 2025 release. The delay comes as Reynolds’ wife, Blake Lively, faces mounting legal drama with It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni.
While no official reason was given for the schedule shift, the new date conveniently replaces Avengers: Doomsday, which has been delayed to December 2026. Meanwhile, Lively recently dropped two emotional distress claims against Baldoni to avoid sharing medical records, but her broader lawsuit—including allegations of harassment and retaliation—remains active.
Baldoni has filed a $400 million countersuit, and the legal battle has even drawn in Taylor Swift, whose ties to Lively became part of the case. As court tensions rise, Reynolds' project—starring Aubrey Plaza, Jason Momoa, and others—gets caught in the crossfire of Hollywood’s latest courtroom drama.
