The 2025 American Music Awards lit up Las Vegas on Monday night, but not everyone left happy—especially fans of rising star Chappell Roan. Held at the Fontainebleau and hosted by Jennifer Lopez, who delivered a daring opening performance, the night was packed with surprises. One of the most talked-about moments came when Gracie Abrams, 25, was named New Artist of the Year, beating out Chappell Roan, Shaboozey, Benson Boone, Teddy Swims, and Tommy Richman.
Chappell’s devoted fanbase quickly took to social media platform X, formerly Twitter, voicing their disappointment. “CHAPPELL ROAN YOU WERE ROBBED! #AMAs,” one user wrote, while another fumed, “WHAT?? CHAPPELL DESERVED THAT!”
Despite the backlash, Abrams’ win marks a major milestone in her growing career. The ceremony also honored legends like Rod Stewart and Janet Jackson, and featured performances by Gwen Stefani, Gloria Estefan, and Blake Shelton.
