After six long years, fans of Alita: Battle Angel finally have reason to celebrate. Director Robert Rodriguez recently appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience and confirmed he's still fighting to bring Alita: Battle Angel 2 to life. While production details remain scarce, Rodriguez revealed that the massive Iron City set still stands at his studio—complete with seven streets and 20-foot ceilings.
The 2019 sci-fi epic, based on Yukito Kishiro's manga Gunnm, has developed a dedicated fanbase known as the “Alita Army.” Stars Rosa Salazar and producer James Cameron remain passionately committed to the sequel, with Salazar even joking about “harassing” the filmmakers to move it forward.
With support from cast, crew, and fans, the momentum for Alita 2 is building—and Rodriguez’s update could be the push that finally launches the next chapter from Iron City to the big screen.
