Milly Alcock is opening up about a rocky start on the set of House of the Dragon. During her May 19 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the 25-year-old actress revealed that after her very first day playing young Rhaenyra Targaryen, a senior figure on the production told her she needed an acting coach.
“Someone very high up pulled me aside and was like, ‘Um, we’re gonna get you an acting coach,’” Alcock said, whispering to mimic the awkward delivery. “It just confirmed everything I thought—like, I can’t do this. This is a big mistake.”
Host Jimmy Fallon quickly came to her defense, telling the audience, “From the very first episode, you were a fan favorite. That guy is wrong. You are unbelievable.”
Despite early doubts, Alcock’s performance helped House of the Dragon win the 2023 Golden Globe for Best Drama Series.
