Halle Bailey has described her upcoming debut solo album as “a love letter” to herself—past, present, and future. In a new interview with Cosmopolitan, the 23-year-old singer and Little Mermaid star opened up about the emotional heart of the project.

“My music is definitely for the young girl who doesn’t know herself completely yet,” Halle explained. “It’s an emotional, vulnerable kind of music… a love letter to myself and my younger self and my future self.”

Sonically, the album blends modern R&B with jazz elements and touches of pop. Halle revealed she drew inspiration from her roles in The Little Mermaid and The Color Purple, as well as her relationship with rapper DDG.

Calling this a “transformative” period in her life, she said, “You never know what you’re capable of until you’re put through it.” While no release date is confirmed, Halle teased the album will arrive before the end of 2025.
