Netflix has confirmed that Building the Band, the final TV series featuring the late Liam Payne, will debut this summer. The former One Direction star served as a guest judge on the unscripted music competition before his tragic death last October.

Hosted by AJ McLean, the show features contestants forming bands without seeing each other—a Love Is Blind-style twist on traditional talent shows. Alongside Payne, judges include Nicole Scherzinger and Kelly Rowland, who also mentor the performers.

Filming wrapped before Payne’s death, and producers faced difficult decisions about moving forward. In January, Netflix stated it was in close contact with Payne’s family before finalizing his inclusion.

The series, filmed in Manchester, ends with three live performances recorded in late August. Fans will get to see Payne in one of his last on-screen appearances when Building the Band premieres later this summer.
