Rihanna is back with her first new music in over three years. The global superstar will release Friend of Mine on May 16, a track featured on the upcoming Smurfs movie soundtrack. The film, set for release on July 18, marks Rihanna’s return to acting and producing. She stars alongside John Goodman, James Corden, Nick Offerman, and Sandra Oh.

The animated adventure follows the Smurfs as they embark on a daring mission to rescue Papa Smurf from evil wizards. This is the first Smurfs film since 2017’s Smurfs: The Lost Village.

Friend of Mine is Rihanna’s first release since 2022’s Lift Me Up, which reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and went platinum in 2023. Fans have eagerly awaited new music from the multi-Grammy winner, who hasn’t released an album since 2016.

Rihanna, pregnant with her third child, confirmed the news at the recent Met Gala.
