SZA has revealed she technically owes Beyoncé money—but the music icon hasn’t come calling. In a lighthearted Instagram comment, SZA admitted she used part of Beyoncé’s 2006 track Listen in her 2022 hit “SOS,” specifically the melody and a lyrical tweak in the closing lines.

“I literally owe her half my publishing off interpolation alone on SOS and she never pressed me,” she wrote, calling Beyoncé a “generous QUEEN.”

The comment came under a reel by influencer Zuhaila Jama, joking about the long list of songwriters credited on Beyoncé’s songs. While Beyoncé has not publicly responded, the exchange showcased her reputation for grace and generosity in the industry.

SZA, a longtime fan of Beyoncé, previously admitted she was too nervous to approach her idol in person, saying, “She's a masterclass on poise, grace, artistry, beauty and kindness.”
