The Google executive and climate activist was mapping ascent routes and raising funds for Nepali orphanages when a devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake triggered the deadly avalanche on April 25, 2015.

Fredinburg, known for his adventurous spirit and sharp intellect, had previously survived a similar disaster on Everest just a year earlier. His final Instagram post hauntingly predicted “danger” just hours before his death.

Bush, who dated Fredinburg from 2013 to 2014, paid emotional tribute on Instagram, calling him “one of the great loves” of her life. Despite their breakup, they remained close.
