WHY SELENA GOMEZ MISSED THE 2025 BILLBOARD LATIN WOMEN IN MUSIC AWARDS
Monday, 28 April 2025
Selena Gomez may not have walked the red carpet, but she still made a powerful impression. The singer and actress was honored as Woman of the Year at the 2025 Billboard Latin Women in Music awards on April 24. However, due to filming commitments in New York, Gomez couldn’t attend in person.
In a heartfelt video message, the Revelación artist—who is engaged to music producer Benny Blanco—expressed gratitude for the recognition. “To be seen, supported, and celebrated by women who share our roots is truly powerful,” she said. Reflecting on her Mexican heritage, Gomez added, “Our stories, our voices, and our cultures deserve to be celebrated.”
This isn’t her first major honor—she was named Woman of the Year at Billboard Women in Music back in 2017.
Other honorees this year included Anitta, Belinda, Chiquis, Ha*Ash, Natti Natasha, Olga Tañón, and the late Celia Cruz.
