Hailee Steinfeld has shared why she made the “very difficult” decision to step away from music in recent years. The actress and singer, who rose to pop fame with 2015’s “Love Myself” and hits like “Starving” and “Most Girls,” hasn’t released new music since her 2020 EP Half Written Story.

In a new interview with Collider, Steinfeld explained the pause was necessary to focus on acting. “I wanted to focus on my acting and was happy to be doing that,” she said. “But music is a huge passion of mine and something I’ll never take for granted.”

Now, she’s returning to her musical roots with Sinners, her latest film co-starring Michael B. Jordan. Steinfeld performs the song “Dangerous” on the movie’s soundtrack.

“I didn’t realize how much I missed it,” she admitted. Sinners hits cinemas this Friday, marking a powerful blend of her two passions.
