Disney and Pixar have officially announced that Coco 2 is in development, with a release date set for 2029! The exciting news was shared by Disney CEO Bob Iger during The Walt Disney Company’s annual shareholder meeting on March 20.

“While the film is just in the initial stages, we know it will be full of humor, heart, and adventure,” Iger stated, promising more details soon.

The sequel will reunite key creatives from the 2017 Oscar-winning Coco, including director Lee Unkrich, co-director Adrian Molina, and producer Mark Nielsen. The original film followed Miguel, a young boy who embarks on a journey to the Land of the Dead to uncover his family's musical past. Coco won multiple awards, including Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song (“Remember Me”).

Fans will have to wait a few years, but anticipation is already building for Miguel’s next adventure!
