Perkins' vision promises a darker, more mature take on the Star Wars universe, a refreshing contrast to the more conventional ideas seen from Kathleen Kennedy in recent years.

While Perkins is known for his low-budget horror projects with Neon, this dream project would be a collaboration with Disney and LucasFilm, marking a rare R-rated venture under Kennedy’s leadership—something she has yet to greenlight since taking over in 2012.
