Disney announced on February 25 that a fifth Descendants film is in the works, following the 2024 film Descendants: The Rise of Red. The new movie will feature returning characters Red (Kylie Cantrall), Chloe (Malia Baker), and Maddox Hatter (Leonardo Nam), and will be set in present-day Wonderland. The story will explore what "happily ever after" means for Red and Chloe, following their time-traveling adventures, with consequences for altering time. New characters include Pink (Liamani Segura), Max Hatter (Brendon Tremblay), Luis Madrigal (Alexandro Byrd), and Hazel Hook (Kiara Romero). The film will be directed by Kimmy Gatewood, with writers Dan Frey, Ru Sommer, and Tamara Chestna returning. The film will build on the success of The Rise of Red, which premiered in July 2024. The Descendants franchise, which began in 2015, will premiere its fifth installment in 2026, with all previous films available on Disney+.
