ARIANA GRANDE REFLECTS ON "THANK U, NEXT" AS A THERAPEUTIC LIFELINE AND HER OSCAR HOPES FOR WICKED
Ariana Grande, currently awaiting her first Oscar nomination for her role as Glinda in Wicked, reflects on the healing power of her 2019 album Thank U, Next. Released after a challenging period of grief and trauma, including the loss of ex-boyfriend Mac Miller, a breakup with Pete Davidson, and PTSD from the Manchester bombing, the album became a lifeline for Grande. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she described the album as a "means of survival" and a therapeutic process that helped her cope. Despite the quick turnaround from her previous album, Sweetener, Thank U, Next was a huge success, topping the Billboard 200 for two weeks. While focusing on acting now, Grande has received multiple acting offers, including a wedding comedy and a Spaceballs sequel. However, she’s not rushing into any decisions and values creative projects that truly excite her.
