Thursday, 20 February 2025
Cardiologist Dr. Wen-Chih Wu highlights six foods to avoid for heart health. Fried foods, including french fries and fried chicken, are high in unhealthy fats and salt, harming cardiovascular health. Red meats like bacon, sausages, and beef are rich in saturated fat and cholesterol, contributing to heart disease. Dr. Wu recommends replacing them with healthier options like chicken, fish, tofu, and beans. Full-fat dairy should also be avoided; instead, opt for low-fat or non-dairy alternatives like almond or oat milk. Excessive sugar, found in cookies and processed foods, leads to obesity, high blood pressure, and clogged arteries. Similarly, snacks like chips are filled with unhealthy fats, sodium, and additives, contributing to weight gain and heart disease. Dr. Wu encourages focusing on nutrient-rich foods to protect heart health and avoid those that pose risks.
