Lil Wayne was lucky to escape without injury after his tour buses were shot at in the early hours of Sunday morning (April 26).

"Multiple shots" were discharged at the rapper's tour bus while he was travelling in Atlanta, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Atlanta law officials were called to Wayne's hotel at around 3.30am on Sunday, where they found two tour buses which had been shot at.

The rapper had been performing at a nightclub in Atlanta on Saturday night.

Witnesses described the shooters' vehicles as "two white vehicles, possibly a Corvette style vehicle and an SUV."

Previously, a shooting was falsely alleged to have taken place at the home of Lil Wayne.

Police responded to a call of an apparent shooting on the rapper's property back in March, but later determined that they had been the victims of a bizarre 'swatting' prank.
