Louis Tomlinson has announced plans to start his own record label.

The One Direction singer announced his new venture just weeks after Zayn Malik quit the group.

Tomlinson said in an interview with The Sun: "It's absolutely great to be working with Syco on a label. This is something I've wanted to do for some time, and to be given the opportunity to potentially give new artists a platform is an incredible feeling.

"I hope to sign some really exciting artists down the line."

His new label is backed by Sony and is an imprint of Simon Cowell's record label Syco.

He has already signed X Factor finalist Jack Walton and is planning to hold auditions for a new girlband.

The 23-year-old recently lashed out at Naughty Boy, calling the producer "inconsiderate" after he posted snippet of a collaboration with Malik on Twitter.
