SABRINA CARPENTER DEFENDS SEXUALITY AND BODY IMAGE AMID INDUSTRY CRITICISM, CELEBRATES SUCCESS WITH GRAMMY AND BRIT AWARD NOMINATIONS
Monday, 27 January 2025
Sabrina Carpenter, 25, has faced criticism from industry figures like music mogul Pete Waterman, who called her performances “offensive” due to their risqué nature. Carpenter fired back, emphasizing that women have always been judged for embracing their sexuality, citing past artists like Rihanna, Britney Spears, and Madonna. She argued that women should be able to express themselves confidently without shame. Carpenter also addressed the pressure women face about body image, urging kindness and understanding among them. While she’s open about much of her life in her music, she remains tight-lipped about her recent breakup with Barry Keoghan. Despite the criticism, Carpenter’s career thrives, with six Grammy nominations and two Brit Award nominations. She’s set to kick off the European leg of her Short n’ Sweet tour on March 3, with plans to perform in Birmingham, UK, on March 6, and is excited to try out her British accent on stage.
