Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel have shared the first photo of their newborn son.

The singer posted a picture on Instagram of Biel holding Silas Randall Timberlake, who was born earlier this month on April 11.

In the photo, Silas is seen wearing a shirt for his dad's hometown basketball team Memphis Grizzlies.

"The Timberlakes are ready!!! GO GRIZZ! #GritNGrind #Playoffs #BabyGrizzROAR," Timberlake wrote.

The couple - who married in October 2012 - revealed that they were expecting their first child in January.

Last month, Timberlake was honoured with Innovator Award at the iHeartRadio Music Awards where he thanked Biel in his acceptance speech.

"I want to thank my best friend, my favourite collaborator, my wife Jessica at home," he said. "Honey I can't wait to see our greatest creation yet.

"Don't worry, daddy's heading home right now to innovate by learning how to change a poopy diaper and get my swaddle on."
