TIKTOK GOES DARK IN THE U.S. AFTER COURT RULING, USERS WELCOME BACK
On January 19, TikTok temporarily went dark in the U.S. after the Supreme Court upheld a law banning the app, citing national security concerns. Users who attempted to access the app received a pop-up message stating, "TikTok isn't available right now" due to the ban. The message also mentioned former President Trump’s involvement in working towards a solution to reinstate the app once he takes office. TikTok later released a statement, thanking Trump for assuring service providers that they wouldn’t face penalties for offering TikTok to Americans. The app emphasized its support for the First Amendment and against censorship. Another message welcomed users back, thanking them for their patience and supporting TikTok’s return in the U.S. As expected, this development sparked reactions from users and the public.
