JOHN SALLEY REVEALS WILL SMITH'S INTENSE FILM SET METHODS AND UNUSUAL LINE MEMORIZATION TECHNIQUE
Will Smith can be “intense” on film sets, according to his Bad Boys: Ride Or Die co-star John Salley. Salley, who plays the antagonist Fletcher in the action-comedy, shared insights into working with Smith during an interview with basketball veteran Byron Scott on the Fast Break podcast. Salley described Smith as highly focused, noting that he memorizes his lines in an unusual way. “Will knows every line,” Salley explained. “So when you’re doing a scene with Will, you can’t look at him because his lips are moving.” According to Salley, Smith mouths the lines of his scene partner as a way of remembering his own. “He’s like [pretends to mouth lines]. And you’re like, ‘What the hell is wrong with your lips?’” Salley said. Despite the oddity of Smith's approach, it’s clear that his dedication to his craft helps him stay fully engaged on set.
