Ariana Grande has publicly defended her Wicked co-star Cynthia Erivo after Erivo faced backlash for criticizing fan-edited posters of the film. Recently, Erivo expressed her frustration on Instagram over edits that altered her witch character's appearance, specifically by lowering the brim of her hat to cover her eyes. She also condemned an AI-generated animation depicting a fight between her and Grande's characters. Grande responded to the controversy, acknowledging the complexities of AI and fan edits, stating that it's a "massive adjustment period." She expressed her love and respect for Erivo, emphasizing the challenges both women face in this digital age. Erivo called the edits "the wildest, most offensive thing" she had encountered, asserting that such changes degrade her and erase her identity. The highly anticipated *Wicked* movie, featuring Grande as Glinda and Erivo as Elphaba, is set to release on November 22.
