Johnny Depp Reflects on Amber Heard Trial at ‘Modi’ Press Event

Johnny Depp recently spoke out about the 2022 defamation trial with ex-wife Amber Heard during a press event for his upcoming film *Modi*. While promoting the biopic, where Depp directs and stars as Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani, he drew a comparison between his life and the struggles of his character. At the event, Depp made a thinly-veiled reference to the trial, joking, "Maybe yours didn’t turn into a soap opera. I mean, literally, televised." The remark drew laughter from the audience, highlighting the intense public scrutiny he faced. The trial, which stemmed from Heard's 2018 op-ed, concluded in Depp’s favor, with the actor receiving $15 million in damages. Heard, in turn, was awarded $2 million. Since then, she has reportedly relocated to Spain. Depp also shared that *Modi* came to life after a suggestion from Al Pacino, joking about his impersonation of the legendary actor.
