Lizzo has announced that she’s taking a "gap year" from the music industry to focus on her well-being. The 36-year-old artist, who hasn't released an album since 2022’s *Special*, shared the news with fans via Instagram. In a video posted from Bali, Indonesia, Lizzo is seen on a balcony in the rain, raising her hands in the air.

 

Earlier this year, Lizzo hinted at stepping away from music, expressing frustration over being a target for criticism. She revealed on Instagram that constant scrutiny had left her feeling unwelcome, saying, "I’m getting tired of being dragged by everyone... My character being picked apart by people who don’t know me." Despite these challenges, Lizzo later clarified that she wouldn’t quit making music, emphasizing that creating joy and connecting with people remains her passion.
