Afroman has been arrested after punching a female audience member in the face on Tuesday (February 17).

The 'Because I Got H***' singer was performing in Biloxi, Mississippi when he was filmed smacking a woman while she danced behind him on stage.

"On February 17, the Biloxi Police Department responded to a reported assault at the Kress Live Entertainment Venue involving Mr Joseph Edgar Foreman who performs under the stage name Afroman," the Biloxi Police Department stated.

"Mr Foreman was arrested for assault as a result of a Citizen's Affidavit, booked in, and released after paying a 330 Dollar Bond."

"My understanding is [the woman] got up on stage, and he hit her," Police Chief John Miller told the Biloxi Sun Herald.

The video shows the woman getting up looking shocked, before another audience member climbs on stage and takes her away.

 A representative for Afroman told Billboard: "This was a completely involuntary reflex reaction to people infringing on his stage space.

"It was uncharacteristic behaviour that was initiated by outside uncontrolled forces."

Afroman scored a number one hit in the UK in 2001 with 'Because I Got H***'.
