Inside Out 2 has become the biggest movie of 2024, crossing the $1 billion mark within three weeks of its June 14 release. This Disney-Pixar sequel, featuring new character Anxiety, voiced by Maya Hawke, joins an exclusive list of 11 animated films to achieve this milestone. It bested its predecessor's $859 million global earnings and set the 2024 record for the biggest box office opening.

In North America, the film earned $469.3 million, with an additional $545.5 million internationally. It is the fastest animated film to reach $1 billion, surpassing the previous record held by Barbie (2023). Directed by Kelsey Mann, Inside Out 2 stars Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith, Tony Hale, and more.

Pixar's chief creative officer, Pete Docter, expressed high hopes for the sequel amid a challenging year for box office performance. Next up for Pixar are Elio (2025) and Toy Story 5 (2026).
