Vanilla Ice has been charged with burglary of residence and grand theft.

The rapper - real name Robert Van Winkle - was taken into custody earlier today (February 18) after allegedly breaking into and stealing from a property in Florida.

According to police, the 47-year-old was remodelling a house for a home improvement reality series he hosts when the property next door was burgled.

The items taken included furniture, bicycles and a pool heater.

The star presents home renovation series The Vanilla Ice Project for the DIY Network in the US.

Vanilla Ice shot to fame in 1990 with his album To The Extreme and hit singles 'Ice Ice Baby' and 'Play That Funky Music'.
