Tate McRae Ineligible for 2025 GRAMMYs Best New Artist
Canadian singer-songwriter Tate McRae is no longer eligible for the Best New Artist category at the 2025 GRAMMYs. Billboard reports that McRae has already been submitted for this award three times in the past three years, disqualifying her from future consideration. Sabrina Carpenter, who has been entered twice, remains eligible. Additionally, McRae's hit song "Greedy" will not be eligible for nomination as it was released a day before the eligibility period, which runs from September 16, 2023, to August 30, 2024. McRae gained prominence at 13 as the first Canadian finalist on So You Think You Can Dance. Signed by RCA Records in 2019, her 2020 single "You Broke Me First" peaked at number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her 2023 single "Greedy" topped the Canadian Hot 100 and reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100. Fans expressed disappointment over McRae's exclusion, with one calling it a "joke."
