President Ranil Wickremesinghe's directive has led to the initiation of two additional scholarship programs by the President’s Fund, effective May 2024. The first program targets monks, nuns, and lay students enrolled in Piriven and Seelamatha Educational Institutions, offering scholarships ranging from Rs. 3000 to Rs. 6000 per month for 12 to 24 months. The second program focuses on G.C.E. (Advanced Level) students specializing in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), providing Rs. 6000 per month for up to 24 months. Applications are open until May 22, 2024, with further details available on the President’s Fund website and official social media channels. Additionally, ongoing scholarship initiatives include support for financially challenged G.C.E. (Ordinary Level) passers and students from grades 1 to 11 facing financial constraints. The President’s Fund aims to distribute scholarships across all education zones and schools in the country, with funds directly deposited into recipients' bank accounts.
