Nintendo has officially announced that a successor to the Switch console will be unveiled within the fiscal year 2025. The confirmation came during an investor meeting, with Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa further affirming the existence of the Switch 2. While details remain scarce, rumors suggest it will offer enhanced processing power and improved graphics, potentially serving as a spiritual successor to the popular Switch. Despite the anticipation for the new console, reports indicate a likely release in early 2025, with developers still fine-tuning games for the launch. The current Switch, nearly seven years old, continues to perform well in sales, with over 141 million units sold as of the latest fiscal report. The Switch 2 is speculated to feature upgrades such as an 8-inch screen with 1080p resolution, magnetically attachable Joy-Cons, backward compatibility, and potential 4K display support via USB-C connection. However, some insiders suggest Nintendo might opt for a familiar form factor to capitalize on the existing hybrid console's popularity and extensive game library.
