Flight Attendant Reveals 'Scary' Reason Behind Sitting Position During Takeoff and Landing
Thursday, 29 February 2024
Henny Lim, a flight attendant for Cebu Pacific airlines, took to TikTok to explain why cabin crew are often seen sitting on their hands during takeoff and landing. Contrary to popular belief, it's not to warm their hands but rather to adopt the 'bracing position.' This position, involving sitting upright with hands under thighs, palms up, and feet flat on the floor, helps keep the body rigid in the event of an emergency impact. Lim emphasized that the position reduces the chance of injury during unplanned emergencies. Additionally, while in this position, crew members conduct a 'silent review' to prepare for potential emergency situations, ensuring they are aware of emergency equipment and procedures. While some find the revelation concerning, it underscores the importance of being prepared for any eventuality during flight.
