After an arduous three-year legal battle, Megan Thee Stallion, the 28-year-old "Sweetest Pie" rapper, has finally settled her dispute with her record label, 1501 Entertainment.
This protracted legal struggle began when Megan sought to renegotiate her contract in a bid for more creative control over her music and career. In March 2020, she made headlines by alleging that 1501 was obstructing her from releasing new music, a claim the label vehemently denied.
A turning point came in August 2021 when a judge ruled in Megan's favor, allowing her to release a highly-anticipated remix of BTS's hit track "Butter." Since then, she's continued to make waves in the music industry, most recently joining forces with Cardi B for the hit collaboration "Bongos."
The recent announcement of the settlement was made via 1501's Instagram account, revealing that both parties have "mutually reached a confidential settlement to resolve their legal differences." They have also agreed to part ways amicably, marking a significant turning point for Megan's career.
In a joint statement, Megan and 1501 expressed their satisfaction in putting this chapter behind them, looking forward to the next phase of their respective ventures. The label's president, Carl Crawford, conveyed his well wishes, stating, "All of us at 1501 wish Megan the very best in her life and career."
