The next generation of Microsoft's gaming consoles, succeeding the current Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, is expected to launch around 2028. This information comes from transcripts of a May 2022 meeting between Microsoft executives, which were recently made public in federal court documents following the Federal Trade Commission's unsuccessful attempt to block the Activision Blizzard acquisition in June. In the meeting, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella inquired about the company's 2028 plans, specifically whether they would maintain a single main platform for game developers or explore a more diverse range of specifications similar to those found on PCs. The responses from other executives suggested a combination of the two approaches.
