HOLLYWOOD STRIKES DELAY EMMY AWARDS TO 2024

The 2023 Emmy Awards, which are the most prestigious awards in television, have been rescheduled to January 15, 2024. This decision comes as a result of the ongoing strikes involving writers and actors in Hollywood.

This marks the first time the Emmy Awards have been postponed since 2001, when the 9/11 terrorist attacks led to the ceremony being moved from its usual September date to November.

The nominations for the 2023 Emmy Awards were announced recently, highlighting shows like Succession, The Last of Us, The White Lotus, and Ted Lasso among the top contenders. The decision to postpone the event came just 48 hours before Hollywood actors joined the strike, aligning with film and television writers who have been picketing since May due to stalled negotiations with major studios. The Creative Arts Emmy Awards, which recognize artistic and technical achievements in television, have also been rescheduled and will now take place on January 6 and 7.

It was hinted last month that the 2023 Emmys might change their September 18 date when event vendors reported they had been informed about a possible date change.

The four-month delay reflects the current atmosphere in Hollywood, where a resolution between the Writers Guild of America (WGA), the actors guild Sag-Aftra, and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) doesn't appear to be on the horizon.
