REFLECTING ON THE SINEAD O CONNOR CLASH: MILEY CYRUS BREAKS FREE FROM YEARS OF UNFAIR SCRUTINY

Miley Cyrus is looking back on important moments in her career, both the good and the tough times. This comes after she released a thoughtful new song called "Used to Be Young."

Miley Cyrus, who is 30 years old, talked about something that happened in 2013. Back then, she had a disagreement with Sinead O’Connor, who has since passed away. Sinead had written a letter criticizing Miley for promoting nudity in her music video for "Wrecking Ball." Sinead thought that Miley was focusing too much on looking cool for the music industry and for guys, instead of valuing herself for who she is beyond her appearance.

At the time, Miley was also struggling with her own challenges, and she didn't fully understand Sinead's perspective. Miley shared some of Sinead's old tweets that were written when Sinead was going through a tough time, and this caused more problems between them.

Miley explained that she was prepared for some disagreements about her choices, but she didn't expect other women, who had been in similar situations before, to criticize her. She talked about receiving Sinead's open letter and how, at the age of 20, she couldn't completely grasp the complexity of mental health. All she understood was that Sinead was telling her that her ideas weren't original.

Miley continued, saying that things from her past, like childhood difficulties, can affect her in strange ways. She felt tired of being judged for her decisions and was finally at a point where she was making choices for herself. Having that taken away from her was really upsetting. Miley expressed her respect for Sinead O'Connor and dedicated a song to her during the special.

Sinead O'Connor passed away when she was 56 years old in July. In the same special, Miley performed her song "Wonder Woman" from the "Endless Summer Vacation" album and dedicated it to Sinead.
