SECURITY GUARD ALLEGEDLY AXED FOR SEEKING FAN PHOTO SNAPS, CLAIMS TAYLOR SWIFT'S TEAM

A security guard from Minneapolis gained fame for his singing during a Taylor Swift concert, but he now says he was fired from his job for asking fans to take pictures of him. Calvin Denker, who worked for the security company BEST, went viral in June when a fan captured him singing "Cruel Summer" and posted it on TikTok.

In his reaction video, Denker disclosed that he had passed notes to fans near the stage, asking them to send him any photos they took of him. This action turned out to be the reason for his dismissal by his employer. Denker explained that his security company claimed to have a policy against taking photos with performers.

He explained, "The main issue that they had was with my follow-up video where I said that I handed out pieces of paper to ask to be sent any photos that I made my way in to." Denker had initially applied for the security job after talking to security personnel at Taylor Swift's 2018 Reputation tour, with the goal of seeing her perform for free.

He achieved this goal by working at the U.S. Bank Stadium on June 23 and 24. Denker distributed notes that said he couldn't use his phone but requested attendees to take photos of him if Taylor Swift came near him. Some fans obliged, although the person who originally posted the viral singing clip wasn't among them.

Denker emphasized that his top priority was ensuring Taylor Swift's safety and that fans had a good time. He reiterated, "I was doing my job." However, he received a call from HR a few days after admitting to sharing his contact details along with the photo request. This eventually led to his dismissal.
