Nicole Scherzinger has spoken about GRL, saying they could never replace the Pussycat Dolls.

The new girl band was formed by the same management team behind Scherzinger's former group.

The singer told the Daily Star: "Nobody could ever replace the Pussycat Dolls and GRL were never ever going to be the new Pussycat Dolls.

"They are very pop. Dr Luke is involved and they are five different gorgeous girls doing their own thing.

"They're adorable but the Dolls set-up was very different. It was a unique time and nothing else had ever come out like that before."

Scherzinger expressed her hope that Pussycat Dolls will reform one day, explaining: "The Dolls hold a special place in my heart.

"Nobody can touch us. Hopefully we'll get back together."

The 36-year-old also revealed that Prince is a "good friend" of hers, adding: "He's always wanted me to sing more soul rock."
