Exciting news! Taylor Swift is continuing her journey of re-recording her albums, and she just revealed that her next one will be "1989 (Taylor's Version)." This follows her redoing of albums like Fearless, Red, and Speak Now.
During her Eras Tour in California at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Taylor surprised her fans by sharing this news on Wednesday night. She also posted about it on her social media with a "Surprise!!" caption. Taylor mentioned that 1989 was a pivotal album for her and her "favorite re-record" so far.
After the announcement, the stadium lit up with "1989 (Taylor's Version)" in shining letters. The original album 1989, which came out in 2014, had 13 songs including huge hits like "Shake It Off," "Blank Space," "Bad Blood," "Style," "Wildest Dreams," and "Out of the Woods." It even topped the Billboard 200 chart and stayed in the top ten for a whole year. Now, the new version will have 21 songs, with five never-before-heard originals making their debut. Taylor expressed her disbelief that these new songs were once left behind.
Taylor started re-recording her music in 2021 to regain control over her earlier work that was initially recorded with Big Machine Records. The rights to her music were sold without her consent to Scooter Braun for $300 million, who then sold them again. Taylor's re-recordings are making waves and breaking records during this (Taylor's Version) era.
