Doja Cat recently got upset with her fan group, the Kittenz. She went on a spree of posts, criticizing fans who used her real name as their screen names. As a result, she lost around 237,758 Instagram followers in just a few days, with the total number of lost followers reaching nearly 300,000 over the past month. Some fans also noticed that Doja herself chose the name "Kittenz" for her fandom in a Twitter poll last year.

During her rant, she expressed her frustration at fans using her real name, Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, as their screen names and found it creepy. She even urged them to delete their social media accounts if they continued doing so. Additionally, Doja claimed that the term "Kittenz" was coined by an "alcoholic teen" and that her fans shouldn't be naming themselves anything.

One fan reminded her that the fans were just using the name she had given them, while another pointed out her own past association with being a cat, like dressing up as one for the Met Gala and meowing during an interview.
