Johnny Depp has confirmed that he and Amber Heard have got engaged.

The Hollywood actor was recently reported to have proposed to Heard, though the couple had not publicly confirmed it until now.

Promoting his latest film Transcendence in Beijing, Depp revealed that he was wearing a band on his finger, and that it was a "dead giveaway" that he was engaged.

When asked if he had proposed to Heard, he said: "The fact that I'm wearing a chick's ring on my finger is probably a dead giveaway. Not very subtle."

He added: "I think that I would be better at making women's shoes than I would be at wedding planning, I can't plan anything. I'm really bad at that stuff."

Depp and Heard met on the set of 2011's The Rum Diary and have been together since June 2012, shortly after Depp announced his split from partner of 14 years Vanessa Paradis.

They are thought to have celebrated their engagement with a star-studded party earlier this month.
