JENNIFER LAWRENCE'S NEAR MISS: THE HUNGER GAMES ALMOST LOST ITS LEADING LADY

Back in 2012, Jennifer Lawrence skyrocketed to stardom with her iconic portrayal of Katniss Everdeen in 'The Hunger Games' franchise. With a whopping $2.9 billion in box office earnings and a dedicated fan base, Lawrence, alongside Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, became the face of the series. However, Lawrence's acting journey could have taken a dramatically different turn if a certain audition had gone her way.

In a revealing moment, Lawrence disclosed that she actually auditioned for the role of Bella Swan in the immensely popular 'Twilight' saga. However, fate had other plans, as she was turned down without even receiving a callback. The 'Twilight' franchise, which kickstarted in 2008, propelled Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner into international stardom.

Reflecting on the experience, Lawrence shared that she had to navigate her career carefully, ensuring she didn't become solely associated with one franchise. She explained, "I was still in a franchise, so I was still trying to counteract the franchise-ness... I'd still be doing that if I was in 'Twilight'. But I almost didn't do 'Hunger Games' because 'Twilight' had come out and that fandom had happened."

The decision to accept the role of Katniss came with its own uncertainties. Lawrence admitted hesitating due to the immense level of fame that came with the job, confessing, "I never wanted to be the most famous person on the planet." She envisioned a different life for herself, one that was less in the constant spotlight.

Ultimately, Jennifer Lawrence's close call with 'Twilight' serves as a reminder of the intriguing "what ifs" in the world of showbiz and how one pivotal decision can shape an actor's career trajectory.
