Ed Sheeran took on an extra role at his Landover, Maryland concert tonight. As fans reported, the 32-year-old singer-songwriter graciously performed an intimate, unplugged set for the audience after Khalid, who was originally scheduled to open the show, was unfortunately in a car accident.

“He is recovering and we wish him the best,” Ed shared with the crowd about Khalid‘s condition.

During the pre-show performance, Ed Sheeran delighted the crowd with songs from his latest album, titled “Subtract".

Ed Sheeran also shared some lighthearted humor about performing in daylight instead of his usual nighttime shows. He jokingly remarked, "Usually when I start playing, it's like pitch-black, and now I get to see everyone. It's awesome. This is pretty fun."

After performing a few more songs, Ed Sheeran confirmed that Khalid would still be joining the tour in Boston.
