'ONLY HUMAN CREATORS ARE ELIGIBLE': AI MUSIC CAN'T WIN GRAMMY AWARDS AS PER NEW RULES

The Recording Academy, the organization behind the prestigious Grammy Awards, has introduced new rules for the 66th annual ceremony. These rules specifically deal with the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in creating music and aim to establish clear guidelines for who can be considered for Grammy Awards. While the entertainment industry as a whole continues to discuss the influence and impact of AI, the Recording Academy is taking proactive measures to regulate its presence in the music world.

According to the Academy, only human creators can be considered, nominated, or win a Grammy Award. Any piece of work that does not involve human input is not eligible to be considered in any category.

The recently announced guidelines from the Academy make it very clear that only humans are eligible to be considered, nominated, and win a Grammy Award. They state that any work without human involvement cannot be considered for any award category. However, the presence of AI elements in a musical work does not automatically disqualify it from consideration.

The rules also specify that the human contribution in the submitted work must be meaningful and more than just a small part. The human involvement should be relevant to the category in which the work is entered. For instance, if a work is submitted in a songwriting category, there must be a significant human contribution in terms of the music and/or lyrics. Similarly, if the work is submitted in a performance category, there must be substantial human participation in the actual performance.
